Kosaraju Leela Krishna, also known asKL Krishna (born 16 August 1935), is an eminentIndianeconomist,statistician and professor who is known for his significant contributions in the field ofeconometrics. He received thePadma Shri award from thepresident of India in May 2025.
Krishna was born on 12 August 1935 inAndhra Pradesh, India. He completed hisBsc in mathematics fromAndhra University and hisMsc in statistics from theUniversity of Kerala. He then went to the United States as aFulbright Scholar to complete hisPhD in economics from theUniversity of Chicago underZvi Griliches.Krishna has also received training from the Indian statisticianC. R. Rao at theIndian Statistical Institute.[1][2]
Krishna wasProfessor and Head of the Department theDelhi School of Economics.[3]
