Justina Di Stasio (born November 22, 1992) is a Canadianwrestler[1] of Italian and Cree descent.[2]
In 2015, Di Stasio won a gold medal in the 75 kgweight class at the annualPan American Wrestling Championships. She also won the 2015 Dave Schultz Memorial.[3] Later in 2015, on home soil, Di Stasio won silver at the2015 Pan American Games inToronto.[4]
In 2018 at theWorld Wrestling Championships inBudapest, Di Stasio won gold in the72 kg event.[5] She spoke about pride in her Indigenous roots, thanking her Cree mother, from the Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba, for working to give her opportunities leading to her success.[2]
Di Stasio won one of the bronze medals in her event at the2022 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Acapulco, Mexico.[6][7] She won the gold medal in thewomen's 76 kg event at the2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England.[8][9] She lost her bronze medal match in the76 kg event at the2022 World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia.[10][11]
Di Stasio won the silver medal in the women's 76 kg event at theGrand Prix de France Henri Deglane 2023 held in Nice, France.[12] She won one of the bronze medals in the women's 76 kg event at the2023 Grand Prix Zagreb Open held in Zagreb, Croatia.
She won one of the bronze medals in her event at the2023 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.[13] In 2024, at thePan American Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Acapulco, Mexico, she earned a quota place for Canada for the2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.[14][15] She defeated Saidy Chávez of Honduras and she then secured the quota place by defeatingLinda Machuca of Argentina.[15] She competed in thewomen's 76 kg event at the Olympics.[16]
