Takeuchi graduated from the Division of Graphics at the Sozosha College of Design and joined the game development companyCapcom in 1991.^[2] He producedOnimusha 3 andLost Planet and chiefly producedResident Evil 5.^[3][4] He worked on otherCapcom games such asStreet Fighter II for theSuper Nintendo Entertainment System andResident Evil andResident Evil 2 for thePlayStation.

In 2012, Takeuchi became head of Capcom's Development Division 1, which developedResident Evil,Devil May Cry and other titles for theWestern world.
