Julio César "Coyote" Rivera González (born 12 April 1967) is a Peruvian former professionalfootballer who played mainly as awinger.
Julio Rivera developed as a footballer in theAlianza Lima youth system.[1] He then started his senior career withSegunda División side Escuela Técnica del Ejército (ETE).[2] Later he joinedJuvenil Los Ángeles and played there with his brotherÓscar Rivera.[3] There Julio made his debut in theTorneo Descentralizado and played for theMoquegua club until the end of the1991 season.[3]
He would then have his chance to play forArequipa giantsFBC Melgar in the1992 Torneo Descentralizado season.[4]
After an impressive season with Melgar, Rivero joinedSporting Cristal in January 1993.[citation needed]
He is a half-brother ofPaolo Guerrero, the national team's current captain.[5]
His son, also named Julio Rivera, was murdered during a robbery inLima. He died after being struck by a vehicle while fleeing from robbers who tried to steal his belongings.[6]
