Julian Maroun is an Australian actor, best known for his roles as Corporal Peter "Pepsi" Abboud inFighting Season and Farid inLogie Award-winning miniseriesRomper Stomper.

Early life

Maroun's parents were born in Lebanon.[1]

Career

Maroun's first acting role was in a pilot version (created for network distribution) ofThe Horizon in 2015, which as of October 2019[update] was the most watched online series made in Australia and the most watchedLGBTQI web series in the world.[2] His first Australian television role was inCatching Milat in 2015, directed byPeter Andrikidis.[3]

In 2015, Maroun starred in and co-produced his debut short film with best friend Joseph Chebatte,Three Hearts,[4] which was nominated at theDances with Films festival in Los Angeles, screening at theChinese Theatre Hollywood.[5]

He played supporting roles in Australian television showsCleverman,[6]Janet King[7] andGirt by Fear,[8] before a major dual role as twin brothers Haris and Amir Rexhaj inDeep Water, withYael Stone andNoah Taylor in 2016.[9]

In 2017, Maroun was given leading roles in the Logie Award-winning miniseriesRomper Stomper[10] (withDavid Wenham,Lachy Hulme,Sophie Lowe) and theFoxtel/Goalpost seriesFighting Season[11] (withJay Ryan,Ewen Leslie,Kate Mulvany), as well as a supporting role in international feature filmSlam oppositeAdam Bakri in 2018.[12]

In 2018, Maroun and Chebatte produced their second short film,Entrenched, starring Maroun andToby Wallace, about four Australian soldiers inAfghanistan who capture a young boy.[13]

Maroun appears in the first episode of the first series of the 2019ABC TV series,Diary of an Uber Driver.[14]

Maroun appears in Season 2 ofAftertaste.[15]

In 2024, Maroun appeared in season 3 of ABC dramaTotal Control (TV series).
