On August 19, 2021, Gaines joinedMajor League Soccer clubLos Angeles FC.[2] Gaines was signed through the MLS Waiver Order, with Los Angeles FC trading $50,000 in General Allocation Money and the 21st spot in the Waiver Order toToronto FC to acquire the number one spot.[2]
On March 11, 2022, Gaines was loaned toLas Vegas Lights FC.[3]
On February 20, 2024, Gaines signed withNashville SC following his release from LAFC at the conclusion of their 2023 season.[4]
