Juan Miguel Jiménez López (Spanish pronunciation:[ˈxwammiˈɣelxiˈmeneθˈlopeθ]; born 20 May 1993), known asJuanmi[ˈxwammi], is a Spanish professionalfootballer who plays for as aforward forLa Liga clubGetafe.
He came through the youth ranks atMálaga, starting inits reserves and making his first-team debut in 2010, also spending time on loan atRacing de Santander in 2013. InLa Liga, he also representedReal Sociedad,Betis,Cádiz andGetafe, totalling over 300 games and 60 goals and winning theCopa del Rey in2022. He spent one season in thePremier League withSouthampton, and another in theSaudi Pro League withAl-Riyadh.
Juanmi won theEuropean Championship withSpain under-19s in2011 and2012, and made hissenior international debut in 2015.
Juanmi was born inCoín,Province of Málaga. Raised inMálaga CF's youth academy, he made his first-team debut on 13 January 2010 in aCopa del Rey away match againstGetafe CF, scoring as theAndalusians were crushed 5–1 (losing 6–3 on aggregate), which made him the club's youngest ever goalscorer in an official game at the age of only 16.[3] Four days later, he first appeared inLa Liga, playing eight minutes in a 1–0 home win over the same opponent.[4]
On 27 March 2010, JuanmiassistedApoño's goal in a 1–1 home draw againstCD Tenerife.[5] Although Málaga were threatened with relegation until the last day ofthe season, he still was able to make five first-team appearances, totalling 110 minutes. He signed his first professional contract on 5 August, keeping him with the club until the end of 2014–15.[6]
On 12 September 2010, the 17-year-old Juanmi started atReal Zaragoza, scoring twice as Málaga led 5–0 at the 30-minute mark (eventually winning 5–3).[7] By doing this, he became the youngest player in the competition's history to achieve this feat in only one game.[8]
After the summer of 2011 signing ofRuud van Nistelrooy, Juanmi was further demoted down Málaga's attacking pecking order. He made his first appearance ofthe season on 11 December 2011, coming on as asubstitute and scoring in a 1–1 home draw withCA Osasuna.[9] He started at Getafe in theSpanish Cup two days later, and scored the game's only goal in the 84th minute.[10]
On 15 January 2013, after featuring even more rarely, Juanmi was loaned toSegunda División'sRacing de Santander until June.[11] He failed to find the net during his short spell, and his team alsosuffered relegation.
Juanmi was given more playing time by new Málaga managerBernd Schuster in2013–14,[12] and was made a starter byJavi Gracia in thefollowing campaign.[13] On 31 January 2015 he was definitely promoted to the main squad, being handed the number 11 jersey.[14]
On 16 June 2015, Juanmi signed a four-year deal withPremier League sideSouthampton, for an undisclosed fee reported to be £5 million.[15][16][17] He made his debut on 30 July, coming on forJordy Clasie in the 62nd minute and setting up fellow substituteShane Long for the final goal in a 3–0 victory overVitesse Arnhem atSt. Mary's Stadium in thethird qualifying round of theUEFA Europa League.[18]
On 9 June 2016, after 19 goalless appearances in all competitions – two starts – Juanmi returned to his home country and joinedReal Sociedad for an undisclosed fee.[19] He made his competitive debut on 21 August, starting as they beganthe season with a 3–0 home loss toReal Madrid.[20] Six days later, he scored his first goal to open a 2–0 win at Osasuna.[21]
Juanmi was given ayellow card on 28 February 2017 for celebrating the opening goal of a 2–2 draw withSD Eibar atAnoeta Stadium by lifting up his shirt to show a tribute to the recently deceasedleukemia sufferer Pablo Ráez, and wassent off in the second half for a second booking.[22]

On 14 June 2019, Juanmi signed a five-year contract withReal Betis for a €8 million fee.[23] He spent the vast majority of hisdebut campaign on the sidelines, nursing a left-foot injury.[24]
Juanmi scored his first competitive goal on 28 June 2020, but in a 4–2 away defeat againstLevante UD.[25] On 28 November 2021, against the same opposition but at home, his second-halfhat-trick proved crucial to the 3–1 victory.[26] He played in the team'scup final win over Valencia five months later,[27] having scored twice away to his previous club in a 4–0 quarter-final win on 3 February.[28] He concluded the2021–22 season with a career-best 20 goals in all competitions, of which 16 inthe league, where he was joint fifth top scorer.[29]
On 8 September 2022, Juanmi suffered a left-ankle ligament break in aEuropa League group game atHelsingin Jalkapalloklubi.[30] He returned to action in December infriendly matches during theFIFA World Cup, and was fully recovered from setbacks by the end of January.[31][32]
Having fallen out of favour withManuel Pellegrini following the signing ofAyoze Pérez,[33] Juanmi joined newly promotedSaudi Pro League sideAl-Riyadh SC on a one-year loan on 20 August 2023.[34] He scored his only goal on 5 October, in a 2–2 home draw withAl Shabab FC; this broke his eight-month drought.[33] The following February, he returned to Spain and its top tier after agreeing to a loan deal withCádiz CF until June.[35] He netted in each half of a victory againstAtlético Madrid on 9 March, ending a 23-match winless run.[36]
After returning to Betis, still under the same manager, Juanmi continue to feature sparingly;[37] he did score alast-minute goal to help the hosts defeatNK Celje 2–1 in theleague phase of theUEFA Conference League.[38]
On 31 January 2025, Juanmi was loaned to Getafe with an option to buy.[39] On 11 June, the club exercised the clause.[40]
Juanmiwon two consecutiveUEFA European Under-19 Championships, scoring two goals in the2011 edition in Romania. On 23 March 2015, he was called up to thesenior Spain national team for the first time by coachVicente del Bosque, ahead of aUEFA Euro 2016qualifier againstUkraine and a friendly with theNetherlands, afterDiego Costa withdrew with a hamstring injury.[41] He made his debut in the latter game at theAmsterdam Arena on 31 March, starting and making way forÁlvaro Morata in a 2–0 defeat.[42]
On 29 December 2016, Juanmi played for theAndalusian representative side in a 3–1 home win over a La Liga XI, to raise money forUNICEF.[43]
