Juan Carlos Bazalar Cruzado (born 23 February 1968) is a Peruvianfootball manager and former player who played as adefensive midfielder.

Bazalar developed as part of the youth system ofUniversitario de Deportes, and played his first professional game by Universitario to continue his development as a player.

International career

Despite his age he was still periodically called up forPeru. He represented Peru in the2007 Copa America. Bazalar has made 26 appearances for thePeru national football team.[1]

Managerial career

After becoming a coach, Bazalar's career was marked by success, including winning thePeruvian Second Division championship in 2012 withPacífico FC.[2] He then won three Copa Perú titles in 2018, 2019 and 2021, managingPirata FC,Carlos Stein andADT of Tarma, respectively.[3]

Personal life

He is also the father of footballerAlonso Bazalar. He had expressed a wish to play alongside his son who was part of the U-17 team that went to the U-17 World Cup in 2007.[4]
