Joshua Patrick Inglis (born 4 March 1995) is an Australiancricketer who represents theAustralian national cricket team as awicket-keeper-batter in all three formats of the game. Inglis has captained Australia in ODI and T20Is. He plays domestic cricket forWestern Australia andPerth Scorchers. Inglis was a member of the Australian squad that won the2023 ICC Cricket World Cup[1]

Inglis was a member of the Australian team that won the2021 T20 World Cup, but did not play in the tournament. He made his international debut for theAustralia cricket team in February 2022.[2]Inglis was also a member of the Australian team that won the2023 ICC World Test Championship final but did not make his Test debut until January 2025 as amiddle-order batter againstSri Lanka.

Inglis was born inLeeds, England, and moved to Australia with his family when he was 14.[3]

Career

Inglis made hisfirst-class debut forCricket Australia XI against theWest Indians during theirtour of Australia in December 2015.[4] He made hisList A debut for Cricket Australia XI againstPakistanis during theirtour of Australia in January 2017.[5] He made hisTwenty20 debut forPerth Scorchers in the2017–18 Big Bash League season on 23 December 2017.[6]

In October 2020, in the opening round of the2020–21 Sheffield Shield season, Inglis scored his maiden first-class century, with 153not out againstSouth Australia.[7] In March 2021, Inglis was signed byLeicestershire County Cricket Club to play in the2021 T20 Blast tournament in England.[8] In June 2021, Inglis scored his first century in a T20 match, with 103not out for Leicestershire.[9] He scored his second T20 century, against Worcestershire, with an unbeaten 118 from 61 balls.[10]

In August 2021, Inglis was named in Australia's squad for the2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, in his maiden call-up to the national team.[11] In January 2022, Inglis was named in Australia'sTwenty20 International (T20I) squad for their seriesagainst Sri Lanka.[12] Inglis made his T20I debut on 11 February 2022, for Australia againstSri Lanka.[13] Later the same month, Inglis was named in Australia'sOne Day International (ODI) squad for theirtour of Pakistan.[14] In April 2022, Inglis was also named in Australia's ODI squad for theirtour of Sri Lanka.[15] He made his ODI debut on 24 June 2022, for Australia againstSri Lanka.[16] In 2023, he was selected in Australia's squad for the ODI Cricket World Cup.[17] He scored 58 runs off 59 balls while chasing a target of 210 against Sri Lanka in their third match.[18] In November 2023, he scored his maiden T20 hundred in the first T20i against India inVishakhapatnam.[19]

In May 2024, he was named in Australia’s squad for the2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament.[20]

In July 2024 Inglis was named in Australia’s white ball squad to tour Scotland and England.[21] On 6 September 2024 in the 2nd T20I against Scotland, Inglis scored his 2nd T20I century. Inglis reached 100 in 43 balls making it the fastest century ever hit by an Australian batter in T20Is.[22]

Inglis filled in forPat Cummins ascaptain of the Australian team in thethird ODI against Pakistan on 10 November 2024.[23]

Before the first Test inAustralia's tour of Sri Lanka in January 2025, Inglis received his 'Baggy Green' Test Cap fromGeoff Marsh and became the470th Australian to play tests for Australia. He scored acentury on debut.[24]
