Joshua G. Grizzard (born June 11, 1990) is an American professionalfootball coach who is theoffensive coordinator for theTampa Bay Buccaneers of theNational Football League (NFL). He previously served as the pass game coordinator for the Buccaneers in the 2024 season. Before that, Grizzard served as an assistant coach for theMiami Dolphins, atDuke University andYale University.
A native ofLizard Lick, North Carolina, Grizzard was a two-sport athlete atEast Wake High School, where he played basketball and football. Atwo-way player who playedquarterback andsafety, he was his class'valedictorian, graduating with a 4.75 GPA.[1] He playedcollege football atYale from 2008 to 2011 before opting to switch to a student coaching position.
After graduating from Yale in 2012, Grizzard interned with theCarolina Panthers as an operations intern during their training camp.
Grizzard coached atDuke from 2013 to 2016 as a graduate assistant/quality control coach, working with the Blue Devil quarterbacks.[2]
During his time with the Dolphins, Grizzard served as a quality control coach (2017-19, 2022-23) and wide receivers coach (2020-21). Grizzard has been a part of four consecutive winning seasons with the Dolphins, accomplishing the feat for the first time since the club did so in seven straight seasons from 1997-2003.
Grizzard contributed to an offense that finished the 2023 season ranked first in yards per game (401.3), passing yards per game (265.5), and yards per carry (5.1), while ranking second in yards per play (6.5), net yards per pass attempt (8.0), and points scored per game (29.2). During his time as Miami's Wide Receivers coach, Grizzard worked closely withJaylen Waddle, who broke the NFL's then-rookie-receptions record in 2021 with 104; and a current Dolphins club rookie record of 1,015 receiving yards.[3]
On February 23, 2024, Grizzard was hired by theTampa Bay Buccaneers as their pass game coordinator under head coachTodd Bowles.[4] On January 31, 2025, Grizzard was promoted to offensive coordinator, replacingLiam Coen, after his departure to become head coach of theJacksonville Jaguars.[5]
