José Luis Cuciuffo (1 February 1961 – 11 December 2004)[1] was an Argentine professionalfootballer who played as acentre back and who was part of the1986 FIFA World Cup-winningArgentina national team.[2]
Cuciuffo started his professional career atChaco For Ever, and later played forTalleres de Córdoba,Vélez Sársfield,Boca Juniors andBelgrano de Córdoba. He also played in theFrenchleague withNîmes Olympique.
Cuciuffo suffered a fatal gunshot wound in the stomach while out hunting in the southern Buenos Aires province,[3] near San Blas Bay. He died in hospital. He was the first world champion football player for Argentina to die.
