Jonathan"Jonny" William C. SearleMBE (born 8 May 1969) is a British former Olympicrower and subsequently businessman. Along with his brotherGreg and coxswainGarry Herbert, Searle won the gold medal in thecoxed pair event at the 1992Olympic Games in Barcelona.
Searle was born inWalton-on-Thames,Surrey. He was educated atHampton School andChrist Church, Oxford.
Whilst atOxford University, he competed in theBoat Race in 1988, 1989, and 1990. Oxford triumphed in all three races. Searle was President of theOxford University Boat Club in the 1989–1990 academic year.
Searle is anOlympicgold medalist, winning the coxed pairs event at the1992 Barcelona Olympics with his brotherGreg Searle. He also won a World Championships gold medal in 1993. In the1996 Atlanta Olympics, he finished third in thecoxless four event.
He is a steward ofHenley Royal Regatta.
Searle has two sons, Kit and Jake.
He still trains atMolesey Boat Club.
