Jonathan WittenbergOBE (born 17 September 1957 inGlasgow, Scotland) is aMasortirabbi, the Senior Rabbi of Masorti Judaism UK. He is a leading writer and thinker onJudaism. He is Rabbi of theNew North London Synagogue,[1] with approximately 3700 members.He is also a member of theElijah Interfaith Institute Board of World Religious Leaders.[2] He sometimes contributesThought for the Day on theBBC Radio 4Today programme.
He attendedUniversity College School, went toKing's College, Cambridge andLeo Baeck College.He was taught byLouis Jacobs.
He currently resides in North London. Rabbi Wittenberg is married to Nicola Solomon and they share three children.
Wittenberg was appointedOfficer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the2024 New Year Honours for services to the Jewish community and interfaith relations.[3]
