John Charles Lush (October 8, 1885 – November 18, 1946), was a professional baseball player who was apitcher in the Major Leagues from 1904 to 1910. He played for theSt. Louis Cardinals andPhiladelphia Phillies.[1]

On May 1, 1906, while with the Phillies, the 20-year-old Lushno-hit theBrooklyn Superbas 6-0 at Brooklyn'sWashington Park, bestingMal Eason—himself a no-hit pitcher on July 20 of that season. Lush struck out 11, walked three, and one runner first base on a Mickey Doolin error.[2] Not untilJim Bunning's perfect game in 1964 would there be another no-hitter by a Phillies pitcher.

Lush was a good hitting pitcher in his seven-year major league career. He posted a .254batting average (252-for-993) with 107runs, 40doubles, 11triples, 2home runs, 94RBI, 28stolen bases and drawing 69bases on balls. He was also used at first base and in the outfield.
