John Hendrix Baker, III (born March 15, 1941) is an American former professionalfootballlinebacker andtight end. He playedcollege football atMississippi State University, where he was a linebacker and anoffensive end. He played in theAmerican Football League (AFL) for theHouston Oilers from 1963 through 1966 and theSan Diego Chargers in 1967.
Baker married Carla Swanson, a member of theSwansonTV dinners family, on June 22, 1968, atKountze Memorial Lutheran Church inOmaha, Nebraska.[2] He has a daughter named Cara and three sons : Jason, Jacob, and Joshua. Joshua pitched in theCollege World Series for theRice Owls. Baker is the father-in-law ofMajor League Baseball playerLance Berkman.
