British actor (born 1981)

John Dagleish (born 1981) (/dæˈɡlʃ/dag-LEESH)[1] is a British actor originally fromEssex, known for his work in theatre.

In 2008 to 2011, Dagleish played Alf Arless in theLark Rise to Candleford series on BBC.[2] In 2014, he playedRay Davies as part of the original cast ofSunny Afternoon atHampstead Theatre.[3] The production transferred to theWest End in October 2014, where Dagleish won theLaurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance.[4] He was also nominated for theLondon Evening Standard emerging talent award.[5] As part of the original cast he appeared on the original London cast album.[6]

In 2015, he joined theKenneth Branagh Theatre Company, appearing in productions ofHarlequinade andThe Winter's Tale at theGarrick Theatre.[7] In 2016, he played Lysander inA Midsummer Night's Dream at theYoung Vic.[8] In May 2017, he appeared inCommon at theRoyal National Theatre.[9] Later that year, he appeared inJustice League.[10]

In 2018 in the filmChristopher Robin, he plays the role of Matthew Leadbetter.[11]

He is currently playing the role of Benjamin Button in the musicalThe Curious Case of Benjamin Button in London's West End.[12]
