John Connor (14 February 1944 – 27 January 2024) was an IrishFine Gael politician. He was elected toDáil Éireann at the1981 general election as a Fine GaelTeachta Dála (TD) for theRoscommon constituency.[1]

Connor lost his seat at theFebruary 1982 general election, and was not elected at theNovember 1982 general election. He wasnominated by the TaoiseachGarret FitzGerald to the 17thSeanad in February 1983. He was elected to theAgricultural Panel of the18th Seanad in 1987. At the1989 general election he re-gained his Dáil seat for the Roscommon constituency, and was re-elected for the newLongford–Roscommon constituency at the1992 general election.[2]

Connor again lost his Dáil seat at the1997 general election but was again elected to the Agricultural Panel of the21st Seanad. At the2002 general election he failed to get elected to the Dáil and he also lost his Seanad seat.[2]

In 1999, he was elected toRoscommon County Council, and was re-elected at the2004 local elections. He did not contest the2009 local elections.[2]

Connor died in a road traffic collision inFrenchpark on 27 January 2024, at the age of 79.[3][4]
