John Gregory Clay (born May 1, 1964) is an American former professionalfootball player who was anoffensive tackle in theNational Football League (NFL) for two seasons during the late 1980s.
Clay was born inSt. Louis, Missouri, and played scholastically atNorthwest High School inCedar Hill.[1]
He playedcollege football for theUniversity of Missouri,[2] where he was a three-timeAll-American. He was a third-team selection as a sophomore, second-team as a junior, and earned consensus first-team honors as a senior.[3][4][5]
He was selected by the Los Angeles Raiders in the first round (15th pick overall) of the1987 NFL draft.[6]
After his rookie season, the Raiders traded Clay to theSan Diego Chargers in exchange for star offensive linemanJim Lachey.
On 1/5/2016, John Gregory Clay was officially named as the head coach of the Cahokia Comanche football team.
