John Raymond Brosnan (7 October 1947 – 11 April 2005) was an Australian writer offantasy andscience fiction, as well asnon-fiction. He was born inPerth, Western Australia, and died inSouth Harrow,London, fromacute pancreatitis.[1]

He sometimes published under the pseudonymsHarry Adam Knight,Simon Ian Childer[2] (both sometimes used together withLeroy Kettle),James Blackstone (used together withJohn Baxter), andJohn Raymond. Three movies were based on his novels–Beyond Bedlam (akaNightscare),Proteus (based onSlimer), andCarnosaur. In addition to science fiction, he also wrote a number of books about cinema and was a regular columnist with the popular UK magazineStarburst[3] and comic2000 AD.[4]

Liverpool University holds a collection of his work consisting of both published material and drafts.[5]
