Joel Sheldon Wilson (born 30 December 1966) is a Trinidadian internationalcricket umpire fromTrinidad and Tobago.[1] Wilson is a former member of theElite Panel of ICC Umpires, who represented theWest Indies.[2] He stands in matches of all the three formats ofinternational cricketTests,One Day Internationals (ODIs) andTwenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

Umpiring career

Wilson was one of the twenty umpires during the2015 Cricket World Cup hosted byAustralia andNew Zealand.[3] He served as an on-field umpire in three matches inAustralia during the tournament. A few months later, Wilson stood in his firstTest match as an umpire whenBangladesh andSouth Africa played atChittagong from 21–25 July 2015.[4]

In April 2019, he was named as one of the sixteen umpires to stand in matches during the2019 Cricket World Cup.[5][6] In July 2019, Wilson was promoted to theElite Panel of ICC Umpires following the retirement ofIan Gould and the exclusion ofSundaram Ravi.[7]

In September 2023, he was named as one of the sixteen match officials for2023 Cricket World Cup.[8][9]
