Joseph Christopher Sbarra (born 21 December 1998) is an English professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder for National League clubSolihull Moors, on loan fromDoncaster Rovers. He began his footballing career through the youth academy of EFL Championship clubWest Bromwich Albion.[2]

Career

Burton Albion

Sbarra came up through the youth academy atBurton Albion and made his debut on the last day of the 2016–17 season, coming on in the 68 minute againstReading aged 18.[3] On 10 November 2017, Sbarra was rewarded for his breakthrough with a new contract that would see him stay with the club until 2020.[4] Sbarra had to wait until the 2019–20 season to score his first senior goal, opening the scoring three minutes into a 2–2 draw withPortsmouth.[5]

Solihull Moors (loan)

On 25 March 2019, Sbarra joinedSolihull Moors on loan until the end of the season.[6] The following day Sbarra came off of the bench in the 70 minute of a 2–2 draw withBoreham Wood[7] and had to wait until the last day of the season to make his first start in a 1–1 draw withDagenham & Redbridge.[8] Sbarra made a total of six appearances as Solihull narrowly missed out on automatic promotion before losing in the playoffs.[9]

Solihull Moors

On 5 August 2020, Sbarra returned to Solihull Moors on a free transfer following his release from Burton Albion, signing a two-year deal.[10] He made his debut on 3 October againstWoking on the opening day of the season[11] and opened his account for the club the following week in a 5–0 thrashing ofKing's Lynn Town.[12]

Following the conclusion of the2023–24 season, the club confirmed that Sbarra would be leaving the club upon the expiration of his contract.[13] His time at the club ultimately ended in disappointment as the club were defeated in theplay-off final and theFA Trophy final within a week of each other.[14][15]

Doncaster Rovers

On 20 May 2024, Sbarra agreed to joinLeague Two clubDoncaster Rovers on a two-year deal with the option for a further year.[16]

International career

Sbarra was called up to theEngland C team for a friendly againstWales C in March 2022.[17]
