Joseph Michael Milinichik (born March 30, 1963) is an American former professionalfootball player who was aguard for eight seasons in theNational Football League (NFL) with theDetroit Lions,Los Angeles Rams, andSan Diego Chargers. He playedcollege football for theNC State Wolfpack, earning first-teamAll-American honors in 1985.
Milinichik was born March 30, 1963, inAllentown, Pennsylvania. He began his football career atEmmaus High School inEmmaus, Pennsylvania, which competes in Pennsylvania'sEastern Pennsylvania Conference.[1]
He played collegiate football atNorth Carolina State inRaleigh, North Carolina, where he was a first-teamAll-American as a senior.[2]
Following his collegiate playing career at North Carolina State, Milinichik entered the1986 NFL draft and was selected by theDetroit Lions in the third round with the 69th overall selection.[3] He played for the Lions in the1987,1988, and1989 seasons. With Detroit in 1989, Milinichik was a blocking a guard forPro Football Hall of Famerunning backBarry Sanders during Sanders' rookie season.
Milinichik then played for theLos Angeles Rams in the1990,1991, and1992 seasons.
He finished his career with theSan Diego Chargers, where he played in the1993 and1994 seasons. On January 29, 1995, he played with the Chargers in theirSuper Bowl XXIX loss to theSan Francisco 49ers.
