Joseph Lyman (c. 1895 – 1976) was a professionalrugby league footballer who played in the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s, andcoached in the 1930s. He played at club level forFeatherstone Rovers (who were a "junior" club at the time), andDewsbury (captain from the1925–26 season). Agoal-kicker, he initially played in thebacks, and later as aforward includingloose forward, and coached at club level forBatley andDewsbury.

Joe Lyman playedloose forward, and wascaptain inDewsbury's 2–13 defeat byWigan in the1929 Challenge Cup Final during the1928–29 season atWembley Stadium,London on Saturday 4 May 1929, in front of a crowd of 41,000.[3]
