Joe Carducci

Joe Carducci is an Americanwriter,record producer, and formerA&R executive,[1] formerly most closely associated with the influential record labelSST Records.[2]

Carducci lived for a time inChicago[3] before moving toHollywood in 1976.[4] From 1981 to 1986 he was anA&R man,record producer, and co-owner ofSST Records, working with, among other bands, theMinutemen,Saint Vitus, theMeat Puppets,Black Flag andSaccharine Trust. He also ran his own record label,Thermidor Records,[5] which released albums byThe Birthday Party, theMinutemen,[5]Oil Tasters,Flipper,Nig Heist,SPK andAl Jourgensen's pre-Ministry bandSpecial Affect.[6]

He wrote lyrics for the song "Jesus & Tequila" bythe Minutemen (Double Nickels on the Dime, 1984)[7] and "Chinese Firedrill" fromMike Watt's 1995 solo albumBall-Hog or Tugboat?.[8] He now resides inCentennial, Wyoming, where he runs Redoubt Press and O&O Recordings.

Carducci wrote the screenplays for the 1998 filmsRock and Roll Punk[2] andBullet On A Wire withJim Sikora.[2]

In 2007, Carducci publishedEnter Naomi: SST, L.A. and All That..., which contained his reflections on his time atSST Records and the life and death of former SST photographerNaomi Petersen.[1]
