Ian McAllister Bedell (born September 5, 1999) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theSt. Louis Cardinals organization.

Bedell attendedCentral High School inDavenport, Iowa, where he played baseball. As a sophomore in 2016, he went 7–1 with a 1.70 ERA over53+23 innings.[1] After reclassifying and graduating early, he enrolled at theUniversity of Missouri to playcollege baseball.

As a freshman at Missouri in 2018, Bedell pitched to a 6.17 ERA over11+23 innings.[2] As a sophomore in 2019, he made 18 appearances and went 3–1 with a 1.56 ERA and 36 strikeouts over40+13 innings.[3] That summer, he played in theCape Cod Baseball League for theWareham Gatemen where he was 4–0 with a 0.59 ERA over30+23 innings, was named a league All-Star, and won the league's Outstanding Pitcher award.[4][5][6] Bedell moved into thestarting rotation for the 2020 season, starting four games and pitching to a 3.70 ERA before the season was cancelled due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.[7] Bedell was selected by theSt. Louis Cardinals in the fourth round with the 122nd overall pick of the shortened2020 Major League Baseball draft.[8][9] He signed for $800,000.[10]

Bedell made his professional debut in the 2021 with thePeoria Chiefs.[11] He pitched2+23 innings before undergoingTommy John surgery.[12] Bedell returned to play in August 2022 and spent the season rehabbing with theFlorida Complex League Cardinals andPalm Beach Cardinals, totaling a 3.18 ERA over5+23 innings.[13] Bedell returned to Peoria for the 2023 season.[14] Over 27 games (19 starts), he went 4–2 with a 2.44 ERA and 106 strikeouts over 96 innings and was named theMidwest League Pitcher of the Year.[15] Bedell was assigned to theSpringfield Cardinals to open the 2024 season.[16] In mid-June, he was promoted to theMemphis Redbirds.[17] Over 21 games (19 starts) between both teams, Bedell posted a 3-4 record and 4.85 ERA.[18]

Leonardo Abdiel Bernal (born February 13, 2004) is a Panamanian professionalbaseballcatcher in theSt. Louis Cardinals organization.

Bernal signed with theSt. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in January 2021.[19] He made his professional debut that year with theDominican Summer League Cardinals. He played 2022 and 2023 with thePalm Beach Cardinals.[20]

In 2024, Bernal played with thePeoria Chiefs andSpringfield Cardinals. After the season he played in theArizona Fall League for theGlendale Desert Dogs.[21]

Won-Bin Cho (born August 20, 2003) is a South Korean professionalbaseballoutfielder in theSt. Louis Cardinals organization.

Cho signed with theSt. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in January 2022.[22] He signed with the Cardinals rather than pursue a career in theKBO League.[23]

Cho made his professional debut that year with theFlorida Complex League Cardinals. In 2023, he played with thePalm Beach Cardinals.[24]

James Dale Crooks III (born July 19, 2001) is an American professionalbaseballcatcher in theSt. Louis Cardinals organization.

Crooks attendedTrinity High School inEuless, Texas and playedcollege baseball atMcLennan Community College and theUniversity of Oklahoma.[25] In 2021, he playedcollegiate summer baseball with theWareham Gatemen of theCape Cod Baseball League.[26] He was selected by theSt. Louis Cardinals in the fourth round of the2022 Major League Baseball draft.[27]

Crooks made his professional debut in 2022 with thePalm Beach Cardinals. He played 2023 with thePeoria Chiefs and also appeared in one game with theMemphis Redbirds.[28] After the season, he played in theArizona Fall League.[29]

Andre Anthony Granillo (born May 12, 2000) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theSt. Louis Cardinals organization.

Granillo attendedWest Valley High School inHemet, California, and playedcollege baseball atUC Riverside. In 2021, he played in theCape Cod Baseball League for theCotuit Kettleers.[30][31] He was selected by theSt. Louis Cardinals in the 14th round of the2021 Major League Baseball draft and signed with the team.[32]

Granillo made his professional debut with thePalm Beach Cardinals with whom he pitched to a 1.50 ERA over 18 innings. He opened the 2022 season with Palm Beach and was promoted to thePeoria Chiefs andSpringfield Cardinals throughout the season, going 4-6 with a 4.13 ERA and 82 strikeouts over52+13 innings pitched between the three clubs.[33] Granillo returned to Springfield to open the 2023 season and was promoted to theMemphis Redbirds in mid-August.[34][35] Over 53 relief appearances between the two teams, he went 3-4 with a 4.74 ERA, 89 strikeouts, and 14 saves over68+13 innings.[36] He was selected to participate in theArizona Fall League with theScottsdale Scorpions after the season.[37] Granillo returned to Springfield to open the 2024 season and was promoted to Memphis in mid-May.[16][38] Over 48 relief appearances between both clubs, Granillo posted an 8-2 record and 3.88 ERA with 80 strikeouts over 65 innings.[39]

Joseph Daniel King (born February 23, 2001) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theSt. Louis Cardinals organization.

King graduated fromWoodside High School inWoodside, California, in 2019. That year, he was named the baseball player of the year in thePeninsula Athletic League's Ocean Division.[40] He attended theUniversity of California, Berkeley and playedcollege baseball for theCalifornia Golden Bears. TheSt. Louis Cardinals selected him in the ninth round of the2022 MLB draft. He signed with the Cardinals and reported toextended spring training.[41] He pitched for theGreat Britain national baseball team in the2023 World Baseball Classic.[42]

Quinn Jack Mathews (born October 4, 2000) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theSt. Louis Cardinals organization.

Mathews attendedAliso Niguel High School inAliso Viejo, California where he played baseball.[43] He went unselected in the2019 Major League Baseball draft and enrolled atStanford University to playcollege baseball

As a freshman in 2020, Mathews pitched 21 innings before the season was cancelled due to theCOVID-19 pandemic. For the 2021 season, Mathews went 5-2 with a 6.08 ERA over66+23 innings.[44] That summer, he played in theCape Cod Baseball League with theCotuit Kettleers.[45][46] With Stanford in 2022, Mathews appeared in 27 games and went 9-2 with a 3.08 ERA and 111 strikeouts over99+13 innings. He was selected by theTampa Bay Rays in the 19th round of the2022 Major League Baseball draft but did not sign.[47] For the 2023 season, Mathews went 10-4 with a 3.75 ERA and 158 strikeouts over124+13 innings and was named thePac-12 Conference Pitcher of the Year.[48] In a Super Regional game versus theTexas Longhorns, he threw a 156-pitch complete game in which he struck out 16 batters in an 8-3 Stanford win.[49][50] After the season, he was selected by theSt. Louis Cardinals in the fourth round (122nd overall) of the2023 Major League Baseball draft and signed.[51][52]

Mathews made his professional debut in 2024 with thePalm Beach Cardinals and was named the Cardinals' Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April.[53] In mid-May, he was promoted to thePeoria Chiefs,[54] and in mid-June, he was promoted again, to theSpringfield Cardinals.[55] He was selected (alongsideTink Hence) to represent the Cardinals at the 2024All-Star Futures Game atGlobe Life Field.[56] In late August, he was promoted to theMemphis Redbirds.[57] Over 26 starts between the four clubs, Mathews went 8-5 with a 2.76 ERA and 202 strikeouts over143+13 innings.[58]

Matz attendedWestview High School inSan Diego, California and playedcollege baseball at theUniversity of San Diego, after joining the team as awalk-on.[59][60] He was selected by theSt. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the2022 Major League Baseball draft.[61]

Mautz made his professional debut in 2022 with thePalm Beach Cardinals.

Maxwel Scott Rajcic (born August 3, 2001) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher in theSt. Louis Cardinals organization.

Rajcic attendedLutheran High School of Orange County inOrange, California. As a junior in 2019, he went 8–1 with a 0.55 ERA and 78 strikeouts over63+13 innings.[62] That summer, he played in theUnder Armour All-America Baseball Game, the High School All-Star Game atProgressive Field, and for the18U USA Baseball team.[63][64][65] During his senior season in 2020, he gave up no runs and struck out 32 batters over22+23 innings before the season was cancelled due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.[66] Rajcic was considered a top prospect for the shortened2020 Major League Baseball draft but went unselected and enrolled atUCLA to playcollege baseball.[67]

As a freshman at UCLA in 2021, Rajcic served as the Bruins' closer, going 2–1 with a 1.65 ERA and 36 strikeouts over32+23 innings.[68] Over the summer of 2021, he playedcollegiate summer baseball with theCotuit Kettleers of theCape Cod Baseball League.[69][70] As a sophomore in 2022, he moved into the starting rotation and went 8–5 with a 3.28 ERA and 92 strikeouts over 85 innings and 15 starts.[71] After the season, Rajcic was selected by theSt. Louis Cardinals in the sixth round with the 187th overall pick in the2022 Major League Baseball draft.[72] He signed with the Cardinals for $600,000.[73]

Rajcic made his professional debut in 2023 with thePalm Beach Cardinals of theSingle-AFlorida State League.[74] In June, he was promoted to thePeoria Chiefs of theHigh-AMidwest League.[75] In mid-September, he was promoted to theSpringfield Cardinals of theDouble-ATexas League.[76] Over 23 starts between the three teams, Rajcic went 9–6 with a 2.48 ERA and 123 strikeouts over123+13 innings.[76] He was named theFlorida State League Pitcher of the Year Award for his performance with Palm Beach.[77] Rajcic returned to Springfield for the 2024 season.[16] Over 24 starts, he posted a 10-11 record and 4.33 ERA with 131 strikeouts over 131 innings.[78]

Sem Robberse (robber-sa; born October 12, 2001) is a Dutch professionalbaseballpitcher for theSt. Louis Cardinals ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Robberse was born inZeist,Netherlands. In 2018 he played forHonkbalclub Allen Weerbaar of theHonkbal Hoofdklasse (Dutch Major League), and posted a 1–3win–loss record, 1.80earned run average (ERA), and 12strikeouts in 20innings pitched.[79] The following season he played forBSC Quick Amersfoort, and in nine starts totalling 64 innings pitched Robberse went 6–3 with a 1.83 ERA and 62 strikeouts.[79] At an international tournament inBarcelona, Robberse was approached by scouts from several teams, including theToronto Blue Jays andKansas City Royals. He ultimately signed with the Blue Jays and was assigned to theRookie-levelGulf Coast League Blue Jays.[80] Robberse made five appearances for the Blue Jays in 2019 and went 2–0 with a 0.87 ERA and nine strikeouts in 1013 innings.[79]

The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.[81] Due to travel restrictions Robberse was unable to return home to the Netherlands, and instead remained inClearwater, Florida.[80] Robberse began the 2021 season with theLow-ADunedin Blue Jays, and was later promoted to theHigh-AVancouver Canadians. In a combined 8823 innings, he posted a 5–7 record with a 4.36 ERA and 90 strikeouts.[79]

On July 30, 2023, Robberse andAdam Kloffenstein were traded to theSt. Louis Cardinals in exchange for pitcherJordan Hicks.[82]

On November 14, 2023, the Cardinals added Robberse to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[83] He was optioned to the Triple–AMemphis Redbirds to begin the 2024 season.[84] In 19 games (17 starts) split between Memphis and the Single-APalm Beach Cardinals, Robberse compiled a 5-5 record and 4.38 ERA with 80 strikeouts across90+13 innings pitched.

Robberse was optioned to Triple-A Memphis to begin the 2025 season.[85]

Tekoah Clark Roby (tuh-KOH-uh; born September 18, 2001) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher for theSt. Louis Cardinals ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Roby attendedPine Forest High School inPensacola, Florida. He had committed to playcollege baseball forTroy University.[86] He was drafted by theTexas Rangers in the third round of the2020 Major League Baseball Draft.[87][88]

He spent his professional debut season of 2021 with theDown East Wood Ducks of theLow-A East, going 2–2 with a 2.45 ERA and 35 strikeouts over 22 innings. Roby missed the majority of that season with a strain of his right elbow but did not require surgery.[89] Roby spent the 2022 season with theHickory Crawdads of theHigh-ASouth Atlantic League, going 3–11 with a 4.64 ERA and 126 strikeouts over104+23 innings.[90][91] He opened the 2023 season with theFrisco RoughRiders of theDouble-ATexas League.

On July 30, 2023, Roby,John King, andThomas Saggese were traded to theSt. Louis Cardinals in exchange forJordan Montgomery andChris Stratton.[92]

Roby split the 2024 campaign between the Single–APalm Beach Cardinals and Double–ASpringfield Cardinals, making 10 starts and working to a 2–3 record and 6.57 ERA with 39 strikeouts across38+13 innings pitched. Following the season, the Cardinals added Roby to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[93]

Roby was optioned to Double-A Springfield to begin the 2025 season.[94]

Matthew Patrick Svanson (born January 31, 1999) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher for theSt. Louis Cardinals ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Svanson playedcollege baseball atLehigh University. He was selected by theToronto Blue Jays in the 13th round of the2021 Major League Baseball draft.[95] On August 1, 2023 the Blue Jays traded him to theSt. Louis Cardinals forPaul DeJong.[96]

Svanson made 53 appearances for the Double–ASpringfield Cardinals, compiling a 4–3 record and 2.69 ERA with 59 strikeouts and 27saves across63+23 innings pitched. Following the season, the Cardinals added Svanson to their40-man roster to protect him from theRule 5 draft.[93]

Svanson was optioned to the Triple-AMemphis Redbirds to begin the 2025 season.[97]
