Jimmie Lee Sloas is an Americansession musician, producer, and songwriter, who playsbass.

History

Jimmie Lee Sloas, born inAshland, Kentucky, grew up inFairborn, Ohio andIsonville, Kentucky. His father, Dave, was a member of the popular bluegrass group,The Sloas Brothers. His older brother, David, served asTammy Wynette's lead guitarist from the early 1980s until her death.

In 1982, Sloas co-founded, with singer-songwriterRobert White Johnson, thealbum-oriented rock bandRPM. The band released two albums between 1982 and 1984, with the albums produced byBrent Maher andGary Langan, respectively.[1][2]

From 1986 to 1990, Sloas was a member of thecontemporary Christian vocal bandThe Imperials (as lead singer and sometimes bass player). He holds several session musician and production credits, primarily incountry & contemporary Christian music with artists such asGarth Brooks,Carrie Underwood,Keith Urban,Carman,LeAnn Rimes,Kellie Pickler,Reba McEntire,PFR,Switchfoot, andJessica Simpson. In 1996, he co-founded the groupDogs of Peace with formerWhiteheart guitaristGordon Kennedy. Sloas also recorded with the heavy metal bandMegadeth on their albumThe System Has Failed. He was nominated for Top Bass Player of the Year in the 2006, 2008, and 2009Academy of Country Music awards.[3]

Sloas is co-producer, withBob Ezrin, of the artistChristian Kane for Bigger Picture Group, at Anarchy Studios in Nashville.
