James William "Big Jim" Whatley (March 11, 1913 – May 31, 2001) was anAmerican football,basketball andbaseball player and coach.[1]He served as the head football coach atWestern Carolina University from 1939 to 1941, after playingminor league baseball for theJackson Senators of theCotton States League in 1937 and theOpelousas Indians of theEvangeline Baseball League from 1937 to 1938.[2]
