Jim Miller (born 1955) is anAmerican film editor.[1] Along withPaul Rubell, Miller was nominated for anAcademy Award for Best Film Editing for the filmCollateral (directed byMichael Mann – 2004).

A native of Chicago,[2] Miller began his film career as an editor and then producer of television commercials and industrial films. He later moved toLos Angeles, where he began editing such television films asAlice in Wonderland andTwo Fathers.

Miller's first screen credit was forThe Breakfast Club (directed byJohn Hughes – 1985); he was the associate editor for the distinguished, veteran film editorDede Allen. Miller's first three editing credits were also for films co-edited by Allen, commencing withThe Milagro Beanfield War (directed byRobert Redford – 1988). FollowingLet It Ride (directed byJoe Pytka – 1989), he and Allen co-editedThe Addams Family (1991), which was directed byBarry Sonnenfeld. Miller then worked (without Allen) as the editor for five more of Sonnenfeld's films, includingMen in Black (1997) andWild Wild West (1999).

In addition to their Academy Award nomination, Miller and Rubell's editing ofCollateral was honored by nominations for theACE Eddie Award,BAFTA Award for Best Editing, and theSatellite Award for Best Editing, which they won.
