Marjorie Jill Pettis (born 22 September 1952) is a New Zealand politician, and a member of theLabour Party.
Pettis was born on 22 September 1952.[1] Before entering politics, she worked as anurse and as a finance officer at abank. Pettis is ofMāori descent.[2]

Pettis became a member of the Labour Party in 1968.[1]
Pettis became MP forWanganui in the1993 election, but in 2005 she narrowly lost the seat to National'sChester Borrows. She was returned to Parliament as a list MP, at which point she stepped down as the Labour Party'sSenior Whip to focus on winning back the Whanganui seat.[3]
She also served as AssistantSpeaker of the House.[1]
She retired from politics prior to the2008 general election.[1]
Pettis is married with two children.[1]
