Jill Cunniff (born August 17, 1966)[1] is an American musician and artist, best known as the lead singer of the bandLuscious Jackson. Cunniff was born and raised inNew York City and attendedFiorello H. LaGuardia High School where she studied visual arts. She graduated from theUniversity of California, Berkeley.[2][3][4] After returning to New York in 1991, she formedLuscious Jackson with friendGabby Glaser. Cunniff plays bass, sings lead vocals, and has been the chief songwriter of the band.[5]
Cunniff appeared in a 1996 episode of theAdult Swim seriesSpace Ghost Coast to Coast as herself. That same year, she provided the voice of Laura for the English localization of theSega Saturn gameEnemy Zero.
Cunniff joined Luscious Jackson bandmateVivian Trimble under the nameKostars and recorded the albumKlassics with a "K", released in 1996. In 2002, she formed ahouse music group named theCooler Kids. Cunniff released a solo album,City Beach, in early 2007.[6][7]
Cunniff is also a painter. She lives inBrooklyn with her husband and two children.
