Gerald Wade Shipkey (October 31, 1925 – November 28, 2009) was an American professionalfootball player. He played as alinebacker for six seasons in theNational Football League (NFL).[1] He also playedfullback, especially the first three years of his career.[2]
In college, he played forUSC before transferring toUCLA and is believed to be the only person to play in theRose Bowl for both teams. He attendedAnaheim High School.[1]
Shipkey was also anAll-Americanshot putter for theUCLA Bruins track and field team, finishing 5th at the1947 NCAA track and field championships.[3]
