Jerome Tuccille (May 30, 1937 – February 16, 2017) was an American writer and activist usually associated with thelibertarian movement of American politics. In 1974, he ran forGovernor of New York on the ticket of theFree Libertarian Party. His campaign included apublicity stunt where a blonde woman wearing abodystocking rode a horse named "Taxpayer" throughCentral Park, alluding to the legend ofLady Godiva.[2]
He worked as an investment manager and authored more than thirty books, includingIt Usually Begins With Ayn Rand (ISBN 978-0930073251). His other books included the first biography ofDonald Trump,[2] as well as biographies ofRupert Murdoch,Alan Greenspan, and theHunts of Texas.[1] Tuccille also wrote several novels and a memoir entitledHeretic: Confessions of an ex-Catholic Rebel (ASIN B0038M3DF6). He also wrote a history of black soldiers in theSpanish–American War calledThe Roughest Riders which is highly critical ofTheodore Roosevelt.[3]
Tuccille was born inthe Bronx, New York, on May 30, 1937.[4] He died at his home inSeverna Park, Maryland, on February 16, 2017, due to complications frommultiple myeloma.[2]
