Jens Zimmermann (born 9 September 1981) is a German politician of theSocial Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as a member of theBundestag from the state ofHesse since 2013.
Zimmermann first became a member of the Bundestag in the2013 German federal election.[1] He is a member of the Finance Committee and the Committee on the Digital Agenda.[2][3] In this capacity, he is his parliamentary group'srapporteur on measures againstmoney laundering and terrorist financing.
In addition to his committee assignments, Zimmermann is part of the German-British Parliamentary Friendship Group.
In the negotiations to form acoalition government under the leadership ofChancellorAngela Merkel following the2017 federal elections, Zimmermann was part of the working group on digital policy, ledHelge Braun,Dorothee Bär andLars Klingbeil. In similar negotiations to form a so-calledtraffic light coalition of the SPD, theGreen Party and theFDP following the2021 federal elections, he led his party's delegation in the working group on digital policy; his co-chairs from the other parties wereMalte Spitz andAndreas Pinkwart.[4]
In February 2025, Zimmermann lost his seat in Bundestag for districtOdenwald againstPatricia Lips.[5]
