Jefridin bin Atan (born 19 January 1968) is aMalaysianpolitician who has served as Member of theJohor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) forKukup since March 2022.[1] He had served as aSenator from September 2020 to September 2023. He is a member and Division Chief ofTanjung Piai of theUnited Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of theBarisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

He was the private secretary to the formerPrime Minister,Abdullah Ahmad Badawi from 2001.[2] A member of theUnited Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the major component of theBarisan Nasional (BN), he is also the incumbent party's Division Head ofTanjung Piai.[2][3]

During the2019 Tanjung Piai by-election that was triggered following the death ofMohamed Farid Md Rafik, Jefridin was widely considered as the potential candidate of the BN coalition.[4] This was despite the stronghold of the former MPWee Jeck Seng from theMalaysian Chinese Association (MCA), another component of the BN, the majority voters of the constituency areMalays.[4] However, BN ultimately chose Wee Jeck Seng,[5] who later defeated the then rulingPakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Karmaine Sardini fromMalaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU).[6]

On 13 September 2020, Jefridin was appointed a Senator by theJohor State Legislative Assembly, after recommended by theMenteri Besar,Hasni Mohammad.[2][7] He was officially inaugurated 2 days later.[8]

On 12 March 2022, he won theKukup seat of theJohor State Legislative Assembly.
