Jeffrey (Jeff) Thomas Alu (born January 1, 1966) is an American musician, photographer, graphic artist, andamateur astronomer who has participated in thePalomar Planet-Crossing Asteroid Survey. The asteroid4104 Alu was named in his honor.^[2]

Alu is credited by theMinor Planet Center with the discovery of 24minor planets, including severalnear-Earth asteroids as well as some in theasteroid belt. Many of these discoveries were made in collaboration with American astronomersEleanor F. Helin andKenneth J. Lawrence. He also co-discovered117P/Helin–Roman–Alu and132P/Helin–Roman–Alu, twoperiodic comets.
