Jason Adam Griffith is an American actor. Best known for hisvoice acting work, he portrayedSonic the Hedgehog andShadow the Hedgehog in the4Kids Entertainment English dub of the animeSonic X, and reprised both roles from 2005 to 2010, andJet the Hawk from 2006 to 2009, forSonic the Hedgehogvideo games.

His other voice roles for 4Kids Entertainment includeUsopp inOne Piece, and Brawly inPokémon, among others. He parted ways with the company in 2010 and has since done voice work forNYAV Post andDuArt Film and Video.[3]

Early life

Jason Griffith was born inLakeline, Ohio.[2] He graduated from theNorth High School inEastlake, Ohio in 1999.[2]

Career

Griffith began his acting career in 1997, at seventeen years old.[3] He made his feature film debut in theromanticcomedy-drama film,Edge of Seventeen in an uncredited role as Scott. He also had an uncredited role as Cassius in the 2008thriller film,Kill Kill Faster Faster. In television, he appeared in an episode ofBlue Bloods as a man wearing a suit inside a red sportscar.[citation needed]

In 2003, Griffith began extensive work as avoice actor. He served as in-house voice talent for the children's televisionblock4Kids TV, which led him to voice many characters in various animated media including Tom Majors inChaotic andMiyamoto Usagi inTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was also an occasional promotional announcer for the block, as well as forThe CW4Kids andToonzai. He also provided the voice of Bongo the Monkey in commercial advertising forDanimals.[citation needed]

Through his voice work as the titular character for the 4Kids English dub ofSonic X, Griffith was brought on bySega to portraySonic the Hedgehog (replacingRyan Drummond),Shadow the Hedgehog (replacing David Humphrey), andJet the Hawk in the mainline video games for theSonic the Hedgehog series. The role began with 2005'sShadow the Hedgehog and ended with 2010'sSonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, until role was thereafter succeeded byRoger Craig Smith in 2010. During this time, he was often credited as "Adam Caroleson". In addition, his role as Shadow was passed toKirk Thornton, while his role as Jet was passed to Michael Yurchak.[4][3] After he was replaced, he continued to voice Sonic in 4Kids promotions until 2014, when the program came to an end.[citation needed]

From 2011 to 2012, he starred in the web comedy seriesCasters as Cal. In 2015, he starred in the English dub of the animated children's seriesSuper Wings.[5]

In 2020, 2021 and 2024, Griffith reprised his role as Sonic and Shadow in theYouTube fan seriesSonic and Tails R.[6]

Personal life

Griffith married Melissa Ryan on August 15, 2015.[7][8] They have two sons.[9][10]
