Jarin Blaschke (born September 28, 1978) is an Americancinematographer, best known for his work with directorRobert Eggers. For his work on Eggers' horror filmsThe Lighthouse (2019) andNosferatu (2024), he earned nominations for theAcademy Award for Best Cinematography.
Early life and education
[edit]When he was 16, Blaschke moved to New York City to study film at theSchool of Visual Arts.[1]
Blaschke first rose to prominence with his work onRobert Eggers' directorial debutThe Witch.[2] His work received acclaim, in addition to several film critic association nominations, including theSeattle Film Critics Society Award for Best Cinematography.[3] He would reteam with Eggers forThe Lighthouse, which was filmed in black and white negative.[4] In addition to his Academy Award nomination,[5] Blaschke won theIndependent Spirit Award for Best Cinematography,[6] and was nominated for theBAFTA andCritics' Choice Award.[7][8]
Blaschke currently lives inEngland.[9]
