Janis Antonovics

Janis AntonovicsFRS (Latvian:Jānis Antonovics; born 1942 inRiga,Reichskommissariat Ostland) is anAmericanbiologist, and Lewis and Clark Professor of Biology, atUniversity of Virginia.[1]

Life

He was educated atGravesend Grammar School (1953-1960), graduating fromClare College, Cambridge with a B.A. in 1963, and fromUniversity of Wales with a Ph.D. in 1966. He lectured atInstitute for Advanced Study, Berlin.[2]

Honors

He is a 1991Guggenheim Fellow.[3]He was elected aFellow of the Royal Society in 1988.[4] He was elected to theAmerican Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1992.[5] He won the 1999Sewall Wright Award.
