Remover's interest inmusic production stems back as far as 2011, inspired bydubstep producers includingSkrillex,Kill the Noise, andVirtual Riot.[15] They would later produce different styles ofEDM in the mid-2010s, citingPorter Robinson as their biggest influence.[16] Fromelectronic music, Remover's production became moretrap-centric around 2018; they cited artists such asTrippie Redd,Earl Sweatshirt, andTyler, the Creator as inspirations.[16] Guest production then became a large part of Remover's early career, with them being a member of multipleSoundCloud collectives including PlanetZero and Graveem1nd. Their production gradually became moredigicore-oriented.[16]
In late 2019, Remover began self-producing andreleasing their own works on SoundCloud. One of Remover's first solo releases, "What's My Age Again?", gained popularity after being shared onTwitter.[16] Their debut EP,Teen Week, was released on February 26, 2021, under the pseudonym Dltzk (stylized as "dltzk", pronounced "delete zeke").[17] The track "Homeswitcher", featuring Kmoe, reached 100,000streams on SoundCloud within the first two weeks of its release.[18]

They released a series of albums with the name "dariacore", thefirst of them on May 14, 2021. The cover art for each album released under the Leroy moniker were screenshots from the TV seriesDaria, which led to the term "dariacore" being used to describe the unique production style that Remover used for these releases.[18] The genre was described by Raphael Helfand ofThe Fader as "takinghyperpop's silliest tendencies to their logical conclusions".[39] ThreeDariacore albums were released under the pseudonym "leroy" from December 2020 to May 2022,[40] after which the moniker was officially retired in June 2022 with the release of a DJ mix titled "leroy & dltzk Memorial Service".[41] This series of albums has since inspired many artists to adopt a similar style of production, releasing short sample-based EDM tracks themed around popular media.[15]
