Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski (born 11 February 1961) is a Polish politician, farmer and member of theSejm since 2011. He served as theMinister for Agriculture and Rural Development between 20 June 2018 and 6 October 2020.
In 1985 Ardanowski graduated fromBydgoszcz Academy of Technology and Agriculture with aMaster of Engineering (magister inżynier) degree inAgriculture.[1] During his studies he was a member of theIndependent Students' Association and was actively involved indemocratic opposition to the communist rule activities.[2]
Ardanowski was elected in2011 a member of theSejm for theSejm Constituency no. 5 as aLaw and Justice candidate.[3] He was reelected in2015,[4]2019[5] and2023[6] now serving his fourth term.
On 20 June 2018 he was appointed aMinister for Agriculture and Rural Development[7] in theFirst Cabinet of Mateusz Morawiecki. He remained in office in theSecond Cabinet of Morawiecki until 6 October 2020.[8]
On 24 July 2024 he joinedKukiz'15's parliamentary circle, after having left theLaw and Justice party a day earlier.[9]
Ardanowski subsequently founded theFreedom and Prosperity party which was formally registered on 19 September 2024.[10]
The party's stated aims are to become abig tent option for the right-wing, believing that the biggest right wing opposition party Law and Justice has lost its coalition-making abilities.[11]
