Jamie Lee Reed (born 13 August 1987) is afootballer and coach who plays as astriker forBangor City 1876. Born in England, he has represented Wales at semi-professional level.
Born inChester, Cheshire, Reed began his career inWrexham'syouth system aged 16 in 2003.[3] He signed his first professional contract with the club on 20 August 2004.[2] He made hisfirst-team debut as a 79th minutesubstitute in a 4–1 defeat atWycombe Wanderers on 27 September 2005.[4] He joined Glentoran onloan until the end of the 2005–06 season in January 2006 and made five appearances for theIrish Premier League side.[5] After returning to Wrexham, managerDenis Smith said "While it was not easy for him with a change of manager so early in his spell at Glentoran, he knuckled down" and in June 2006 signed his professional contract with the club.[6] Reed joinedNorthern Premier League First Division teamColwyn Bay on an initial one-month on 28 October 2006,[7] making his debut the following day in a 1–0 victory overAlsager Town.[8] His first goal for the club came againstGoole in November 2006, and having scored four goals in five appearances he returned to Wrexham on 1 January 2007.[9][10][11]
In August 2007, Reed signed forWelsh Premier League clubAberystwyth Town on a four-month loan until January 2008.[12] He finished the loan with 9 goals from 20 league appearances[13] and joinedConference North teamTamworth on a one-month loan in January 2008.[14] He made his debut in a 1–0 victory atBlyth Spartans in theFA Trophysecond round on 12 January 2008, and his first goal came in a 2–1 victory overHyde United on 26 January.[15] He extended the loan on 12 February 2008 for second month until March 2008.[16] Reed returned to Wrexham on 12 March 2008 after the completion of a two-month loan,[17] which he completed with 11 appearances and 1 goal.[15]
Wrexham released Reed on 6 May 2008 following the club's relegation into theConference Premier,[18] and after atrial withThe New Saints he joined Welsh Premier League sideRhyl one a one-year contract on 1 July.[19][20][21] He scored 13 times in 31 league appearances as Rhyl won the Welsh Premier League title, before leaving at the end of 2008–09.[3][13] After an attempt to win a contract at aMajor League Soccer club in the United States, Reed decided to sign forBangor City in August 2009.[21] He was named Welsh Premier League Player of the Month for March 2010, having scored seven goals in six matches, at the time placing him as the league's top goalscorer.[22] He scored the second goal in the2010 Welsh Cup Final againstPort Talbot Town on 1 May, which Bangor went on to win 3–2.[23] Reed finished 2009–10 with 30 goals in 42 appearances,[24] finishing second toRhys Griffiths in the Welsh Premier League goalscoring charts with 24 goals.[25] Reed joined AustralianVictorian Premier League sideDandenong Thunder in May on loan for the duration of the summer break in the Welsh Premier League,[26] scoring five goals in seven appearances before returning to Bangor in August.[9][27] He signed a new contract with Bangor in September 2010, which contracted him to the club until June 2013.[28]

In November 2010, Conference Premier sideYork City had a five-figure bid for Reed rejected by Bangor.[29] He signed for York on 6 January 2011 for an undisclosed fee, which set a new record for the highest fee received by Bangor, on a two-and-a-half-year contract.[30][31] Prior to signing for York, he had scored 18 goals in 19 appearances for Bangor during2010–11,[32] with 17 league goals making him the top scorer in the Welsh Premier League.[33] Reed made his debut as an 85th-minute substitute in a 2–0 defeataway toPremier League clubBolton Wanderers in theFA Cupthird round on 8 January 2011.[34][35] This was followed by his first start andhome debut three days later in a 1–0 victory overGrimsby Town on 11 January 2011.[34] He scored his first goal after latching ontoAshley Chambers' rebounded shot in a 2–1 home win overForest Green Rovers on 22 January 2011.[34][36] He scored two goals in one game for the first time for York with both goals in a 2–1 victory overMansfield Town on 15 March 2011.[34] Reed finished2010–11 with 9 goals in 24 appearances for York.[34]

On his sixth appearance of2011–12, all of which were as a substitute, Reed scored an 88th-minute winner with a volley in a 1–0 home victory overBath City on 13 September 2011.[37][38] Reed entered the2012 FA Trophy Final as a 90th-minute substitute, with York beatingNewport County 2–0 atWembley Stadium on 12 May 2012.[39] Eight days later he entered the 2–1 win over Luton in the2012 Conference Premier play-off final at Wembley as a 78th-minute substitute, a result that meant the club returned to the Football League after an eight-year absence with promotion toLeague Two.[40]
Reed scored his first goal of2012–13 with the opening goal of a 1–1 home draw withAFC Wimbledon in the FA Cupfirst round on 3 November 2012.[41] He was loaned to Conference Premier sideCambridge United for the rest of the season on 11 February 2013.[42] He made his debut the following day in Cambridge's 3–0home defeat toAlfreton Town.[41] He was recalled early from the loan by York on 11 March 2013,[43] having made seven appearances for Cambridge.[41] Reed made 3 substitute outings after returning, meaning he finished the season with 19 appearances and 4 goals for York.[41] He was released by York on 30 April 2013.[44]
Reed signed for his hometown club, newly promoted Conference Premier sideChester, on a one-year contract on 4 July 2013.[45][46] He signed forSouth Melbourne of theNational Premier Leagues Victoria in Australia on 12 March 2014.[47]
Reed signed forThe New Saints on 7 November 2014 despite not being able to play until January 2015.[citation needed] He scored his first goal for the club as a half time substitute against Prestatyn Town.[citation needed] He left the club by mutual consent on 29 January 2016[48] and signed for their Welsh Premier League rivalsLlandudno later that day.[49] Subsequently, he joinedNewtown. In January 2019, following an achilles rupture, he joinedAshton United.[50] A spell withNorthwich Victoria followed.
In 2020 he joinedCefn Druids before moving toAberystwyth Town in early 2021. He then joinedPrestatyn Town, in the second tierCymru North in May 2021, where as well as playing he manages the club's Under-19 side.[51] In late 2021, Reed joinedNorthern Premier League Division One West side1874 Northwich.[52] He made his debut off the bench in a 3–1 win atKidsgrove Athletic, where he scored the third goal.[53] At the beginning of the 2022-23 preseason,1874 Northwich announced Reed as aplayer-coach for the upcoming season.On the 12th April 2025 he scored the only goal in a Ruthin Town 1-0 victory over former club Bangor played at Bala. That victory kept Ruthin in tier two and relegated Bangor.
In November 2009, Reed made his debut for theWales semi-pro team in a 2–2 draw with Northern Ireland,[54] which made him the second player to feature for a Welsh national team under the "education eligibility" ruling.[3]
Reed was living inChester with his parents until joining York City, when he and his partner moved to a house inYork. He is the older brother of professional footballer turned reality TV starScott van-der-Sluis, who appeared onLove Island,Love Island USA, andLove Island Games.[55]
