James Anthony Roberts (born 21 June 1996) is an English professionalfootballer who plays as aforward forSouthern Football League Premier Division South clubSholing F.C..

Career

Roberts made hisfirst team debut forOxford United as a substitute in a 5–1 away defeat on 11 October 2014 againstCambridge United atAbbey Stadium.[3] He made his first senior start, and scored his first two goals, in a first-round FA Cup win overGrimsby Town on 8 November 2014.[4] He was rewarded with his first league start the following week atYork City, where his debut league goal won the game for Oxford.[5] He scored 5 goals in total inhis inaugural season but, after not featuring in the opening 10 games ofthe following season, he was loaned toChester for a month on 29 September 2015.[6] Roberts joinedOxford City on loan in January 2016, and thenBarnet the following month.[7] Roberts joined Oxford City on loan for a second time in September 2016.[8] In February 2017 he joinedStalybridge Celtic on loan for the rest of the season.[9] Roberts joinedGuiseley on a month's loan on 15 December 2017,[10] later extended until the end of the2017–18 season.[11] At the end of the season, he was released by Oxford.[12]

After a short spell withHalesowen Town, Roberts joinedHereford on 24 October 2018.[13] On 28 March 2019, he was loaned out toAlvechurch until the end of the season.[14]

Having been released by Hereford, on 17 June 2019 Roberts joinedSpennymoor Town.[15] The following season, he joinedOxford City.[16] After a prolific season, he joined divisional rivalsHavant & Waterlooville for an undisclosed fee.[17]

In June 2024, Roberts returned toHampton & Richmond Borough on a permanent basis having enjoyed a short loan spell with the club two years prior.[18] Having scored four goals in three league matches, he was named National League Player of the Month for September 2024.[19]

On 27 June 2025, Roberts joined newly promoted National League South sideHorsham.[20] On 16 August 2025, he scored his first (and only) league goal for the club in a 4-3 loss toWorthing.[21] On 3 January 2026, Roberts left Horsham by mutual consent, having scored 4 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.[22] On 6 January, he joinedSholing.
