James Earl Owens (born July 5, 1955) is an American former professionalfootball player who played six seasons in theNational Football League (NFL) for theSan Francisco 49ers andTampa Bay Buccaneers.[2]

Owens was anAll-American hurdler for theUCLA Bruins track and field team, winning the 110 m hurdles at the1977 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.[3] He competed at the1976 Summer Olympics inMontreal in the110 meter hurdles, finishing sixth.[4]
