James O'Connor (born 20 June 1997) is an IrishFianna Fáil politician who has been aTeachta Dála (TD) for theCork East constituency since the2020 general election, when he took the last seat in the constituency.[2][3]

Career

O'Connor comes from a farming background and was a member ofCork County Council from 2019 to 2020, representing theMidleton local electoral area.[4][5]

He was the youngest member of the33rd Dáil.[6][1][3]

At the2024 general election, O'Connor was re-elected to the Dáil, the first Cork East deputy to be returned in that election.[7] He was subsequently appointed Cathaoirleach of theCommittee on Enterprise, Tourism and Employment.[8]

In October 2025, O'Connor criticizedTaoiseach andFianna Fáil party leaderMicheál Martin, comparing him to overthrown FrenchKing Louis XIV. Martin said these comments were "hurtful" and "unacceptable."[9]
