James Macklin "Mac"Hyman (born 1950) is anapplied mathematician formerly atLos Alamos National Laboratory and currently atTulane University in theUnited States. He received his undergraduate degree fromTulane University and hisPhD in 1976 from NYU'sCourant Institute of Mathematical Sciences underPeter Lax with thesisThe method of lines solution of partial differential equations.[1]
Hyman served as president of theSociety for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) in 2003–2005. He was named a fellow of theSociety for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in 2009.
