James Joseph FitzPatrick, III (born February 1, 1964) is an American former professionalfootball player who was anoffensive tackle for six seasons in theNational Football League (NFL).

Fitzpatrick was born inHeidelberg, Germany. He began his football career inBeaverton, Oregon where he was a two way starter for the State Champion Beaverton High School Beavers.[1]

He attended USC (University Of Southern California),[1][2] where he played in the 1985 Rose Bowl against Ohio State, defeating them 20–17. As a senior, he was selected as the team's Offensive Player of the Year,[3] and was named a first teamAll-American.[4]

He was selected in the first round (13th overall) by theSan Diego Chargers in the1986 NFL draft.[5] He played four seasons for the Chargers.[1][6] He was traded to the thenLos Angeles Raiders in 1990 where he returned to the Colosseum for the remainder of his career.[1]

James now lives inPortland, Oregon, he is active in youth football.
