James Baxter (8 June 1870 – 5 July 1940) was an Englishrugby union player and manager.[4]
Baxter was also a crew member of the British boatMouchette, which won asilver medal at the1908 Summer Olympics forsailing in the12-metre class.[5]
In 1927, he was president of theRugby Football Union. He managed theBritish and Irish Lions tour to Argentina in1927 and the1930 tour to New Zealand and Australia.
