Jakpur railway station is situated in JakpurKharagpur, West Bengal. The station code is JPR. It is a small railway station located betweenHowrah andKharagpur. Neighbouring stations areKharagpur Junction and Madpur, with Kharagpur Junction being the nearest major railway station. Local EMU trains such as Howrah–Kharagpur local, Santragachi–Kharagpur local, Kharagpur–Howrah local, Kharagpur–Santragachi local, Howrah–Midnapore Local train stop here. TheHowrah–Kharagpur line was opened in 1900.[6] The Howrah–Kharagpur stretch has three tracks,[7] and there are plans to build a fourth line for the Santragachi–Panskura–Kharagpur stretch.[8]The Howrah–Kharagpur line was electrified between 1967 and 1969.[9]
