Jakov Alexandrovich Berman (Russian: Я́ков Алекса́ндрович Берма́н; 15 January 1868 – 1933) was aRussian philosopher and political theorist linked toRussian Machism andpragmatism.
In 1908 he publishedDialectics in the Light of the Modern Theory of Knowledge and also contributed toStudies in the Philosophy of Marxism, an anthology of works by Russian Marxist Machists, whichLenin criticised inMaterialism and Empirio-criticism. Lenin also criticised hisDialectics in the Light of the Modern Theory of Knowledge.[1]
In 1911 Berman publishedThe Essence of Pragmatism.[2]
After the Bolshevik seizure of power, he joined theRussian Communist Party (Bolshevik) and continued his academic career.[3]
