Jacqueline Defferary is a British actress. She is married to actor Alasdair Craig.

Career

Film and television

Defferary's first screen role was in 1992 as Daisy inThe Ruth Rendell Mysteries serial "Kissing the Gunner's Daughter".[1] She has also appeared in several episodes ofITV police dramaThe Bill.[1]

In 1995 she appeared in two sitcoms starringRowan Atkinson. In theMr. Bean: Live Action Series episodeTee Off, Mr. Bean, she played a woman in alaunderette, and inThe Thin Blue Line episode titled "Yuletide Spirit", she played a homeless woman.[1]

The same year she was in an episode of theGerry Anderson television seriesSpace Precinct as Lynn/Srprite.[2] In 1997 she appeared as Julie (7 episodes) in the short-lived BBC sitcomA Perfect State.[3]

In 1997 she had a role inCadfael (Season 3, Episode 2, "St Peter's Fair") as Emma Vernold, and also played "Cicely" in the comedy sketch "Look Listen & Take Heed – Women Keep Your Virtue" onHarry Enfield and Chums.[4][5]

She originated the role of Sally in the stage playCleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick (based on theCarry On series of films), and played the role again in 2000 for its television adaptation, renamedCor, Blimey!.[1]

In 2001 she starred in theUrban Gothic episode "The End" as Lucy Morgan.[1] 2006 saw her feature inElizabeth David: A Life in Recipes. In 2009 she appeared as Mrs Taylor in four episodes of theBBC Onesoap operaEastEnders.[6]

In 2014 she appeared inAgatha Christie: Ordeal By Innocence (TV Mini-Series) as Glenda.

In 2018 she appeared inFather Brown "The Devil You Know" (Series 6 Episode 6) as Shirley Krieger.

Her film credits includeRed Mercury (Amanda),[7]Pandaemonium (Miss Holland) andI'll Sleep When I'm Dead (Annie, waitress).

Theatre

As well as screen roles, Defferary has also starred in a number of theatrical productions includingThe Rivals andThe Comedy of Errors, both for theRoyal Shakespeare Company.[2] And for theRoyal National Theatre she has appeared inWelcome to Thebes[8] andCleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick among others.[2]

At theRoyal Court Theatre she starred inThe Arsonists,[9][10][11] andPush Up alongsideDavid Tennant.[12]
